EXHIBITION [ai] EXPLORE!

https://socri.uniri.hr/eng/ai-explore/

The popular science exhibition [ai] explore presents visualizations of engineering problems from the field of civil engineering, as well as some computationally challenging scientific research examples. The visualization was created using the mathematical algorithm HEDAC, and the exhibits show the process by which the algorithm learns, learns about objects, and explores their shape. The algorithm successfully explores and reproduces real works of art.

You can experience the popular science exhibition [ai] explore in several ways: Walk through the exhibition and enjoy beautiful paintings, walk through the exhibition and try to figure out what engineering problems they show, walk through the exhibition and try to figure out how the mathematical algorithm that painted the pictures works,… the QR code hides the answers to all your questions and an expert explanation of the exhibits.

The exhibits were created in an interdisciplinary collaboration between staff from the Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Rijeka, and we hope that you will enjoy the exhibition at least as much as we enjoyed creating it.

EXHIBITION BIOINSPIRED SCIENCE

https://socri.uniri.hr/eng/popular-science-exhibition-science-inspired-by-nature/

Science Outreach Centre conceived and organized a popular science exhibition called Science Inspired by Nature.

People have always been inspired by nature, recognizing that it offers solutions to many challenges and complex situations. Being a part of nature ourselves, we realized that it is a source of creativity and innovation, and its study and imitation enabled us to develop many revolutionary technologies and designs that have improved our life and work.

Bio-inspired science is an area where scientists get inspiration from nature to solve complex human problems and to obtain improvements and innovations in technology.

As part of the exhibition, we present examples of bioinspiration in various scientific fields that University of Rijeka scientists deal with. We believe that we have encouraged you to appreciate nature, the preservation of which is not only a prerequisite for our life but also the key to the prosperity of life on Earth, including us humans. Therefore, we should perceive nature less as a material resource that we exploit, and more as an inspiration to solve the enormous challenges of today and create a sustainable future.

Albert Einstein said: “Look deep into nature and you will do anything.” understand better”.

The popular science exhibition was prepared with the help of artificial intelligence tools and is the result of the Center’s cooperation with the Natural History Museum of Rijeka and several components University of Rijeka: Faculty of Biotechnology and Drug Development, Faculty of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Law, and it is signed by a group of scientists: Jelena Ban, Bojan Crnković, Ana Filošević Vujnović, Ivana Jelovica Badovinac, Ivana Kunda, Nela Malatesti, Marina Manganaro, Vedrana Mikulić Crnković, Željka Modrić Surina, Boštjan Surina, Ivona Traunkar.
