Laboratory tests of behavior of simple small scale models of structures on earthquake platforms, devices that can simulate an earthquake controlled in the laboratory, give us important information about the real behavior of real structures during earthquakes. Simple one-story structure will experience the largest displacements of the upper floor and largest deformations of the walls when the frequency of the base displacement function approaches the natural frequency of the structure – this is known as the resonance region of the structure.
The picture was created as a part of experiments during students’ final works.
